Joining a Credit Union is Easy!

When you join Erie Federal Credit Union, you become a member not a customer. As a member owner, the focus is on serving you and your financial needs. Unlike banks, credit union profits are returned to you through better rates and lower fees. Erie FCU was formed to serve our members not to earn profits for shareholders.

What is a Credit Union? Credit Unions are not-for-profit cooperatives that exist solely to provide financial services to their members. They offer more than just credit, and they're not about unions-you can join one! Credit Unions are local. Your money stays in the local community.

How are they different than banks? Members, not shareholders, own Credit Unions. That means all the profit that Credit Unions do bring in goes right back to the members in the form of dividends, rebates and lowered interest rates.

Erie Federal Credit Union is not a bank, savings and loan, or brokerage house. We are a full-service federally insured credit union serving members who live, work, worship or attend school in Erie or Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Since 1936, we have honored our mission to responsibly deliver a wide range of financial services to meet the needs of our membership. We serve our members and community with spirit, compassion and heart.

Our easy-to-use online application can be completed in just a few minutes. If you have specific membership questions, please contact us.

After decades of being a personal and business customer of a large regional bank, I made the decision to leave because they were no longer “business friendly”. After some checking, I eventually decided to open both my personal and business accounts at Erie FCU’s downtown branch. I am impressed with their staff and even more impressed that they remembered my name the next time I visited. That never happened at the bank. Erie FCU has friendly and efficient professionals. They helped me get my business banking on track and made our new home buying process as simple as possible. By the way, thank you Sarah…you were a godsend! I highly recommend Erie FCU!”
