Another successful Erie Shred-eral day is in the books!! The security of our members is of utmost importance! So great to chat with those who came out to "shred some pounds" with us! In all, we shredded 9,000 lbs. of paper! And, thank you for your PB & J donations to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA.
To put this into perspective, every ton (2,000 lbs.) of recycled paper can save approximately 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 4,000 KWs of energy, and 7,000 gallons of water. The 17 trees saved per ton can absorb a total of 250 lbs. of carbon dioxide from the air each year. Burning that same ton of paper would create 1,500 lbs. of carbon dioxide. Total trees saved: 76.5!! Now that's a great day!
Along with our member security, Erie FCU is committed to working together towards a greener world for our future! Together, we can make a difference!
